Sefaria is a free, living library of Jewish texts. We believe our texts are our collective Jewish inheritance. They belong to everyone, and so we work to ensure the vast majority of texts in the library are available to everyone, in the public domain or with free public licenses. Whether it’s copying a page of text for your classroom or downloading nearly our entire database for research and new projects, you’ll enjoy  easy access to the canon.

Sefaria is a resource for a global community. We know that users from around the world access our library every day, which is why we continue to work on expanding the available languages. Many resources in Sefaria’s library are available in a number of languages and different editions. In addition, texts are fully searchable and interconnected, making it easy for users to move from one source to another.

Sefaria is designed to bring Jewish texts into the digital age. Accordingly, all of our product development efforts are designed to make Sefaria into a better learning and teaching tool. Sefaria is committed to supporting and empowering learners and educators alike to explore and use all the texts and tools the library has to offer.

Sefaria is a technological resource. Nearly all of our code is released under an open source license, and we offer services to any project that can make use of them, including a live API and extensive documentation. We invite everyone to reuse our code and data to build apps, conduct research, or make visualizations. We believe the basic infrastructure for Jewish tech is something we should share.

Sefaria is available on the go. Our Android and iOS apps allow you access the Jewish library in the palm of your hand — anytime, anywhere. Plus, many works are available for downloading as well, which means you can keep learning even without an internet connection.
