The Sefaria sheet editor is a tool that allows users to create their own compilations of texts and media. Source sheets may include texts from within the library, multimedia resources, or original text.

Please note: You must have a Sefaria Account to create a sheet on Sefaria.

There are two ways to add sources from the library to a sheet:
  • From within the sheet editor
  • From within the source text in the library

To add a text from Sefaria's library from within the sheet editor:
  1. Click on the profile button, located in the top right corner of your screen, to open a dropdown menu.
  2. To begin a new sheet, click on Create a New Sheet. Alternatively, click on Profile to see all your existing sheets.
  3. Click on + icon, found on the top left side of the screen, to see three icons.
  4. Click on the quotation mark icon to open a search bar.
  5. Type the citation for your desired text into the search bar to see a dropdown menu with potential matches for your search query.
  6. Click on your desired text to add to your sheet.

To add a text from Sefaria's library from within the sheet editor:

  1. Navigate to your desired source in the library, either by using the search bar or by choosing a text category from the options on the homepage.
  2. Click on any section of the text to open the Resource Panel.
  3. Scroll down to find and click on the Add to Sheet subheading, found in the TOOLS section of the Resource Panel.
  4. Using the provided drop-down menu, select the sheet on which you'd like to see the selected text.
  5. Click the Add to Sheet button.

Please note:

  • When adding a translation other than the default translation (JPS 2023) or to add a specific text version, such as Tanakh without nikud, add a text from within the library not from within the sheet editor.
  • You can add passages of any length to sheets, from one verse to an entire chapter — and beyond!
