Quick Guide: Meet the Homepage

Sefaria’s homepage serves as an initial entry point into the library. 

In the center of the homepage you’ll find the following categories of text, along with a brief description of each category. Click on any category to see the various texts within. 

Note: Commentaries are found within the category of text on which they are commenting. For example, commentaries on Tanakh are found within the Tanakh category.

At the top of the homepage you’ll see links, which you can use to navigate the resources in the library by topic or by text category, alongside the word Community, which links to a collection of user-generated source sheets. 

If you don’t have a Sefaria account or are logged out of your account, you’ll also see:

• A search bar
• A Login button
• A Sign Up button
• A question mark (click to access the Help Center) 
• A globe symbol (click to choose your preferred interface language)

If you are logged into your Sefaria you’ll also see:

• A search bar
• A bookmark symbol (click to see your saved texts)
• A bell symbol (click to see your notifications)
• A question mark (click to access the Help Center) 
• Your profile button (click to view your profile settings and more)

When viewing Sefaria’s homepage in a laptop or desktop browser window, you’ll find additional resources to support your learning on the right side of the homepage. These include:

• Basic information about Sefaria
• Recently viewed texts
• Translation options
• Learning schedules (such as the weekly Torah portion)
• A link for downloading the Sefaria app
• Learning tools, such as visualizations and educator resources
• Links for creating source sheets or exploring other user-generated resources

Note: Not all of these options are available when using Sefaria’s mobile apps. Available resources are located at the bottom of your mobile device’s screen.
