How to Use the Built-in Purim Grogger

Sefaria’s mobile apps include a grogger (noisemaker) feature for use during traditional recitations of the book of Esther as part of Purim celebrations. 

In order to enable the built-in Purim grogger:

  1. Tap on Account, found in the bottom-right corner of your screen. 
  2. Tap on Settings.
  3. Scroll down to find to the GROGGER subheading. 
  4. Tap on the word ON to enable the grogger. 

Please note:

  • The grogger is only available on Sefaria’s mobile apps.
  • The grogger is automatically added a few days before Purim and removed a few days after Purim.
  • In order to hear the grogger, your phone's media volume must be turned up. The media volume can be found in your phone's settings and is not the same as ring volume.
