Navigating the Updated Sefaria Platform Team Sefaria Updated January 18, 2026 13:50 Distinct Spaces for Learning, Creating, and Building When we first launched Sefaria, it was a tiny library with big goals: We wanted to ensure the Jewish canon would be digitally available to all. Over a decade later, we’re proud to offer free access to thousands of Jewish texts, a powerful content creation tool, and open-source data powering myriad Torah tech projects. All that innovation deserves some breathing room! That's why we've updated the Sefaria platform to offer different spaces for distinct ways of engaging with Torah (and different types of content) — each with plenty of room to grow. Everything you could previously do on Sefaria is still available; we’ve just reorganized a bit. Below, we explain the new structure of Sefaria and answer questions you might have about the changes. Meet the Three Sefaria Products: The Sefaria Library This is the space for our digital collection of Jewish texts, where you’ll find the learning experience you know and love — books of Torah, commentary, and much more. All texts in the Sefaria Library remain interconnected and searchable. Visit the Sefaria Library >> Voices on SefariaThis is the new home for original Torah-based content made with the Sefaria Sheet Editor. A new interface and updated search tools provide an improved user experience when making, reading, or sharing user-created content using sources from the Sefaria Library. Visit Voices on Sefaria >> Developers on SefariaThis is where you can learn how to use our open-source data to build your own Torah technology projects. Use this space to check out our extensive API, robust documentation, and examples of other Powered by Sefaria projects. Visit Developers on Sefaria >> Got questions? We’ve got answers! Why did Sefaria change its website structure?Sefaria has been growing for 10+ years, and our products have developed to the point of needing their own individual spaces to fully flourish. Creating separate areas for the Library, Voices, and Developers gives us more flexibility to improve, update, and scale each space independently, which ultimately means a better experience for everyone. Each space on Sefaria is dedicated to a different type of content: published books, user-created content, and technical tools. This new structure ensures that when you visit a Sefaria space to find a certain type of content, you will only be presented with that type of content. How does this restructure impact how I use Sefaria? Have features changed? For most users, this change will have little to no impact on day-to-day use of Sefaria. Some users, particularly regular users of the Sefaria Sheet Editor, will notice changes to navigation and production of user-created content. Overall, we have not changed the availability of existing features but rather where they live. We’ve provided more detailed guidance below to help you adapt to the changes quickly and smoothly. How do I navigate between different spaces in the Sefaria platform?Use the product switcher button in the top-right corner of your screen for seamless navigation between the Sefaria Library, Voices on Sefaria, and Developers on Sefaria. Note that when clicking links to the Library from Voices, or links to Voices from the Library, links will always open in a new tab. Do I need separate accounts for Voices on Sefaria and the Sefaria Library? Nope! You only need one Sefaria account to log into both spaces. In the Library, your Profile has been replaced with Account Settings. In Voices, your login is associated with a Profile (where you can access your Sheets and update your creator bio). Can I still use the Sefaria Library and the Sheet Editor together? The Sefaria Library and Voices on Sefaria are part of the same Sefaria infrastructure and remain linked to one another. You can move back and forth between reading texts and working on Sheets; the two experiences will just exist in two different browser tabs. Learn more about using the Sefaria Sheet Editor >> What will happen to my existing Sheets? If you have previously created content with the Sefaria Sheet Editor, all of your Sheets remain connected to your Sefaria account and now live on Voices. No action is needed on your part — all Sheets work exactly as they previously did (tagging, privacy settings, etc.), and all URLs have been automatically redirected, so Sheets bookmarked or linked elsewhere will continue to function without interruption. Is Sefaria’s app changing? Sefaria’s iOS and Android apps are solely dedicated to Library content (i.e., published books). This means that the Sefaria Library App does not contain user-created content and also, as before, cannot be used to produce or edit Sheets. Voices on Sefaria is available by browser only, which includes web browsers on mobile devices (for example, using Google Chrome on a tablet).
