What is the Global Community Torah? Team Sefaria September 11, 2025 20:14 The Global Community Torah is a digital Torah scroll, collectively “written” by people from around the world. Tens of thousands of Jews from countries from all over the world have participated in this free project, adding Hebrew letters to the digital scroll. The goal of this worldwide project is to collectively re-enact the final commandment in the Torah, found in Deuteronomy 31:19. According to common interpretations of the verse, each and every Jew must write a Torah because every Jew has a stake in the tradition. To add or dedicate a letter in the Global Community Torah:Navigate to torah.sefaria.org. Scroll down to find the words Make Your Mark.Select your preferred font from a choice of six unique options. Click on the Make Your Mark button to save your letter. Fill out the provided form with a few quick details, including:Your name or the name of the person you’re honoring or rememberingYour geographical locationIf applicable, the yahrzeit date of the person you’re remembering.Please note: Adding a letter to the Global Community Torah will always be free. Within a few hours of adding your letter, you will receive an email from us sharing the verse and word in which your letter appears.
