How to Add a Translation Team Sefaria Updated August 11, 2025 19:59 Sefaria's library contains two types of translations: Translations released into the Creative Commons as a result of Sefaria's arrangement and funding or licensed by Sefaria through agreements with publishers and individuals Community translations, written and shared by individuals with Sefaria accounts. Please note: To contribute to a Sefaria community translation, you must have a Sefaria account. >>> Learn how to register for a Sefaria account To contribute to a Sefaria Community Translation: Log in to your Sefaria account. Click on the text you want to translate to open the Resource Panel. Scroll down to locate the Tools subheading. Click on the word Advanced, the last option on the list. Click on the words Add Translation. Type your translation into the provided text box. Above the text box, you'll see two options: Original Translation and Copied Text. When adding a translation you have written, select Original Translation. When adding a translation from a book or sheet (written by someone else), select Copied Text and enter the relevant information (edition, book title, etc.) in the provided fields. Click on the word Save. Your translation will appear within 24 hours. If you have a complete translation of a specific text you’d like to add to the library, let us know! Please note: When adding translations in languages other than English: List the translation as Copied Text. Please do not enter non-English translations under Original Translation. When indicating the Version Title of your translation, ensure the full name of the language in question is clearly stated. Ensure the Version Title ends with a two character language code in brackets, such as [fr], [es], and so forth. Adding and editing translations is not possible on Sefaria’s mobile apps.
